About Dandong China
Dandong in Liaoning Province is the largest border city in China. It lies on the border between China and North Korea, marked by the Yalu River. Compared with many other cities in China, Dandong is relatively small which has the advantage that the city is easy to travel by taxi or even by foot. Taking a taxi around the city will cost you normally not more than about 6 RMB.
Although many tourists visit Dandong because of its location (next to North Korea), they discover during their visit to Dandong that the city has a lot more to offer. The Hushan (Tiger Mountain) Great Wall, the far Eastern end of the Great Wall of China, is located here. There are some famous mountains worth a visit as well, such as the Fenghuang Mountain, also known as Phoenix Mountain, Wulong Mountain and Dagu Mountain (Lonely Mountain). Besides a beautiful scenery you often can find temples and other interesting relics.
Dandong is designated a major export production center in Liaoning province. Dandong is a port city connected by rail with Shenyang in China and Sinuiju in North Korea. There is an airport located just outside the city with flights to Beijing and Shenyang. An international airport is being build and will make access to Dandong even easier in the near future.
The climate in Dandong is mild due its location close the sea. The best months to visit Dandong are from April till October when there are festivals and the weather is very nice. Dandong Yalu River International Tourism Festival is held usually in September. The winter can be cold and long however, a visit during the winter certainly offers other spectacular scenery views.

The annual Yalu River International Tourism Festival was again held from Sept 9 to 13 in Dandong city, Liaoning province. A series of activities was carried out during the festival including fireworks and a night yacht parade on Yalu River.
